Summary
Tyramine and Tyrosine given with food produce in rats a lethal and toxic syndrome which varies in intensity according with the dose given and the age of the rats: toxic and lethal activity is greater in rats just weaned. Substances with antihistaminic activity: RP 32–77 and Antadril, either abolish or inhibit the lethal and toxic activity of Tyramine and Tyrosine, showing a more evident activity when the dose used is greater.
The antitoxic activity of the substances with an anti-histaminic activity seems to be connected with their possible capacity for activating the amino-oxydase of the intestine and viscera of the entire organism.
