Conclusions

In this Report some brief observations have been presented, that integrate previous works on the subject.

In closing, it seems fair to note that, in most practical cases, structural reliability isdecreased by random uncertainty, either in the (local) strengths (Section 2) and/or the applied loads (Section 3). This remark would indeed suffice to justify the increasing (in quantity and quality) amount of research effort being spent in the introduction of probabilistic methods in structural engineering.
