Abstract
Mössbauer and magnetization measurements on the Chevrel phase compound FeMo6Se8, have been made between 1.5 and 295 K. Iron atoms are found to occupy one crystallographic site due to the triclinically distorted structure. The measurements indicate an inhomogeneous magnetic transition between 54 and 72 K.
