Die Ursachen der tierischen Regeneration

Summary

The specific regeneration processes, the formation of a blastema and the regenerative growth may be influenced experimentally by different methods. After a review of the experimental data the conclusion is drawn that both processes depend on chemical substances which are produced in autolysed cells of the wound. It seems that the formation of the regeneration blastema is brought about by protein derivatives such as polypeptids, while growth is initiated by ribonucleic acid or by substances which stimulate the synthesis of ribonucleic acid.
