Résumé

L'auteur démontre que la partie organique du squelette du corail,Pocillopora damicornis, est constituée par de la chitine. Cette chitine semble d'exister sous une forme très pure, sans être associée à la protéine, comme le sont toutes les autres chitines calcifiées connues.
