Reexamination of decussated fibers at the optic chiasma of rabbits

Abstract

Ducussated nerve fibers at the optic chiasma were studied using an orthograde fast axonal transport technique. Decussation was almost complete in both albino and colored rabbits. A slight rise in radioactivity noted in the ipsilateral retro-chiasmal optic tract was discussed in relation to non-axonal transport, detoured nerve fibers, or contaminated suprachiasmatic nucleus fragments.
