Abstract

The results of vitreous fluorophotometry in a variety of retinal and systemic diseases are described, particularly in photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium dystrophies, in Best dystrophy, in choriocapillaris atrophy, in choroidemia and in inflammatory conditions, and in cystoid aphakic and non-aphakic macular edema. The patterns involved in breakdown of the blood-retinal barrier are defined for various diseases, and an attempt is made to characterize each disease type by a fluorophotometric “profile.”
