Abstract
Ti(OC6H4CH3)4 in combination with Et3Al2Cl3 and Et3Al forms an active catalytic system for oligomerizing ethylene to low molecular weight α-olefins. At room temperature with Ti(OC6H4CH3)4−Et3Al C4−C10 α-olefins are formed. At elevated temperature and under the influence of various phosphorus additives Ti(OC6H4CH3)4−Et3Al2Cl3 yields linear olefins in the C4−C20 range. Selectivities greater than 97% could be achieved in most cases with the Ti(OR)4−Et3Al2Cl3-additive system.
