Abstract
Seventeen species ofHemileia were studied with emphasis on these characters: extent of colonization, specialization of parasitic mycelium, haustorial development, pathologic histology, soral morphology and sporulation capacity. An attempt was made to trace the varying degree of development and parasitism in this rust genus comprising of just over 40 reported species. It was noted that theGopalkrishnan's “Subepidermal type” more advanced than his “Superstomal — B” type.
