Summary
-
1.
After antigenic stimulation of rats with a protein antigen extracted from acetobacter vinelandii an increase in total RNA of the spleen can be observed. This increase of RNA is mainly located in the subcellular nuclear fraction.
-
2.
The turnover of this nuclear RNA-fraction is significantly higher than the turnover of all other subcellular RNA-fraction. This was shown by radioactive pulse-labeling. The sedimentation coefficients of this inhomogeneous pulse-labeled RNA-fraction ranges between 7 s and 20 s. The nucleotide composition is similar to that of the DNA, and different from that of the ribosomal and cytoplasmic RNA.
-
3.
Changes in the base-composition can be seen 48 hours after a booster injection. This concerns the ribosomal RNA fractions as well as the messenger-like RNA-fractions. The meaning of those changes are discussed.
Zusammenfassung
-
1.
