Cytology of some unusual, mesenchymal tumours of the chest

Summary

Especially due to the advancing biopsy technology cytodiagnosis of chest diseases more and more has to deal withmesenchymal tumours. 72 of them have been found out of 3375 cytologic examinations. Based upon own experiences, the possibilities and difficulties of coytodiagnosis are demonstradet and disscused by the exemples of the hemangio-endothelioma, of the lymphoblastoma and of the intrathroracic splenosis.

Zusammenfassung

Die Cytodiagnostik der Thoraxkrankheiten hat sich insbesondere nach Erweiterung der Punktionstechnik auch immer häufiger mit mesenchymalen Neubildungen zu befassen. Bei 3375 cytologischen Untersuchungen bei Thoraxkrankheiten fanden sich 72 mesenchymale Neubildungen. Unter Einbeziehung der bisher in der Literatur veröffentlichten cytologischen Kriterien werden die cytodiagnostischen Möglichkeiten am Beispiel des Lymphoplastoms, der Hämangioendotheliome und des intrathorakalen Splenoms aufgezeigt und diskutiert; auf die möglichen Schwierigkeiten bei der Cytodiagnostik der nicht epithelialen Neubildungen wird hingewiesen.
