Zusammenfassung
Das Auftreten von „inhärent“ Penicillin-resistenten Staphylokokkenstämmen in vivo ist mit einer genetischen Instabilität bei diesen Stämmen zu erklären, die sich in einer erhöhten Mutationsfrequenz der bei der Entwicklung der IPR ablaufenden Mutationsschritte äußert. Für diese Hypothese spricht die heterogene und charakteristische Zusammensetzung von Populationen an unterschiedlich resistenten Zellen und die Ergebnisse der Fluktuationsteste. Genetische Instabilität könnte durch extrachromosomale oder chromosomale Faktoren bedingt sein. Eine Eliminierung der erhöhten Mutabilität bei den untersuchten Stämmen durch UV-Licht und Acridineinwirkung gelingt nicht, was gegen einen extrachromosomalen Mechanismus spricht. Gegen einen chromosomalen Faktor im Sinne eines Mutatorgens ist allerdings einzuwenden, daß anscheinend nur die zur IPR führenden Mutationen von der Instabilität betroffen werden, während die bisher untersuchten „Mutatorstämme“ viele instabile Gene aufwiesen.
Eine endgültige Klärung der Frage nach der Natur der Instabilität kann nur eine genaue genetische Analyse des Phänomens bringen.
