Summary
There is no rescue between two influenza A virus strains or variants, if the multiplication of the superinfecting virus is prevented by simultaneous infection with vesicular stomatitis virus or by actinomycin D. The results are discussed in terms of the unability of the RNA polymerase of one strain to use the RNA of the other strain as template.
