Determination of some integral parameters of anEs layer from the observed data

Abstract

We obtain a relation between the coefficients of physical and statistical models of screening frequency of a middle-latitude Es layer, which allows us to replace the measurement of some integral ionospheric parameters by their evaluation from the screening frequency sample. We emphasize a parameter that is responsible for the inertia properties of plasma in the Es-layer maximum. It is shown that the evening maximum of electron density of the Es layer is most probably due to the presence of a half-daily component in the wind velocity.
