Summary
The metabolic products of chlormethiazole were extracted from liver and isolated by thin layer chromatography. Chlormethiazole and three other products were obtained. One of these was identified earlier as being 4-methyl-5-β-hydroxy-ethylthiazole and now structures are proposed for the other two. A fourth metabolite, 4-methyl-5-thiazoleacetic acid, was formd in urine. The samples were analyzed by gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and by high resolution mass spectrometry.
