Summary
Therapeutic intervention studies require substantial organisational and financial expenditure. In the increasingly critical situation of the medical care system research-based pharmaceutical companies are expected not only to provide adequate compounds, but — in excess of study grants — also to assign grants for further education of physicians and education of patients and the entire population. The Preventive benefit must not be accompanied by inadequate drug risks. In intervention studies increasing importance will be attributed the criterion «quality of life» exceeding the conventional assessment of benefit-risk-ratios.
