In addition to the treatment of cultivated cucurbits in the „Prodromus enumerationis ... “ by Mansfeld (1959) the speciesCucurbita moschata has been proposed as consisting of the four following convarieties:C. m. convar.nativa nov.,abbreviatina nov.,moschata s. str. andjaponica Zhit.
