Summary

Two optically active organic acids were synthesized from D- and L-alanine and we studied their binding behaviors with bovine serum albumin. In the investigation we found that the D-form of the compounds bound with the albumin more than did the L-form within the range of pH 5.0 to pH 8.0 At pH 4.0, however, we did detect no difference in the binding between the optical isomers. The spectral study led to a conclusion that D-form bound with albumin more tightly than L-form did.
