Summary

X-ray diffraction and dynamic mechanical studies have been made on a series of undrawn, heat-crystallized poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers. An expression has been developed to relate the position of the α dispersion peak to crystallinity and crystal size parameters. This expression gives good agreement with experiment. Consideration is also given to the effect of drawing on the position of the α dispersion.
