Roentgenological appearance of the seminal vesicles after vesiculography
- 21 Downloads
Forty-eight patients were followed up from the moment of vesiculography with a 30% contrast medium until the disappearance of the contrast shadow. Lavage joined to vesiculography failed to clear the seminal vesicles from the contrast medium. The stimulus provided by the contrast medium elicited a secretory response which resulted in a considerable increase of the organ in volume providing for a clearer roentgenographic visualization of its details.
The contrast medium was demonstrable in the normal seminal vesicles for an average of 6 to 10 days. In cases of prostatic adenoma or carcinoma retention of the substance in the organ was of far shorter duration.
