Abstract

Nonabsorbable polyamide suture material was used for fascial closure in the surgery of bladder and distal portion of the ureter. Fascial union was established by means of nonabsorbable sutures in more than 300 surgical interventions. The absence of wound dehiscence or postoperative herniae during 4 years' observation in all of the cases confirms the value of the technique. Continuous suture by the use of nonabsorbable material is recommended for the prevention of suppurative reactions to sutures of fistulae.
