Diagnosis of testicular tumours

Abstract

Observations made in 10 years in 250 cases of testicular tumour are described. Biopsy and cytological examination were found to be important in the early diagnosis. Chorionic gonadotropin assays in 56 patients with testicular tumours of germinocellular origin revealed that postoperative changes are of prognostic value. The embryo-specific alpha-foetoprotein reaction of Abelev, a useful differential diagnostic test, was developed in 107 cases of testicular tumour. Cavograms made in two projections helped to detect paracaval metastases of testicular tumours.
