Rapid method for the determination of caffeine contents in leaf tea

Summary

The method is based on the possibility that watery extracts of tea can be purified by passing through a polyamide column, because polyamide powder adsorbs the same substances as lead salts. According to the results presented, purines are not retained by polyamide. Rapid determination is possible by extinction measurement of the transluate by 272 nm.

Zusammenfassung

Anstelle nach Extraktion mit organischen Lösungsmitteln läßt sich Coffein im Tee nach Passage eines wäßrigen Aufgusses durch eine Polyamidsäule im Durchlauf durch Messung der Extinktion bei 272 nm leicht und schnell bestimmen, da Polyamidpulver Störsubstanzen quantitativ zurückhält und die Purine vom Sorptionsmittel nicht adsorbiert werden.
