Kinetic investigation of the textile bleaching process

Abstract

A kinetic investigation on the time variation of the degree of whiteness of the textile substrate and the concentration of hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent has been undertaken. An exponential rate equation is found valid for the bleaching reaction, while a power rate equation applies to the bleaching agent's decomposition reaction. The effect of the various additives in the bleaching baths is elucidated.
