The effect of benzonitrile on the hydrogenation of phenylacetylene and 1-phenyl-1-propyne over a palladium/carbon catalyst

Abstract

Benzonitrile reduces the rate of alkyne hydrogenation. However, it enhances the rate of styrene hydrogenation while reducing the rate of β-methylstyrene hydrogenation.
