Abstract

In a single-step synthesis, terminal N-monomethyl-N-alkylamines and N, N-dimethyl-N-alkylamines were obtained from carbon monoxide, steam and monomethylamine or dimethylamine, respectively. The reaction mechanism is similar to that suggested by Kölbel and Trapper/1, 2/for the synthesis of primary amines.
