A complex “two-spike” shape of CL oscillations is shown to be caused primarily by the sharp increase in the concentration of hydroxymalonyl radicals due to the drop in those of HOBr and BrO 2 . , reacting rapidly with these radicals and hydroxymalonic acid itself at the critical concentration of Br in the system.
