Effect of catalyst pretreatment on activity and selectivity of hydrogen-Y zeolite for o-xylene isomerization

A study of the influence of calcining атмосферы for ammonium-exchanged Y-zeolite was made. Activity and isomerization selectivity increased with catalysts pretreated in the order He<N2<air<O2<NH2. For catalysts pretreated and stored prior to testing, O2 pretreatment proved optimal. Activity and selectivity of catalysts obtained from the inlet of the pretreatment reactor were higher than that from the outlet.
