Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of sulfanilic acid by periodate ion in aqueous medium

Abstract

Results of kinetic studies of the sodium metaperiodate oxidation of sulfanilic acid in aqueous medium are discussed. A mechanism for the formation of azobenzene-4,4′-disulfonic acid, isolated and characterized as its S-benzylisothiuronium derivative, is proposed.

Обсуждаются результаты кинетического исследования окисления сульфаниловой кислоты с помощью металерйодата натрия в водных смесях. Предлагается механизм образования азобензол-4,4′-дисульфоновой кислоты, изолированной и охарактеризованной в качестве ее S-бензилизотиурониевого производного.
