Modifications of the electronic properties of Pt catalysts induced by sulfur adsorption or coke deposition

Abstract

Competitive hydrogenation of benzene and toluene on Pt was used in order to test the modifications of the electronic properties induced by sulfur adsorption or coke deposition on the metal. From measurements of the selectivities, it appears that sulfur adsorption on platinum induces a decrease in the electron density of the metal. Coke deposition acts in the oppositeway.

Abstract

Конкурирующее гидрирование бензола и толуола на Pt использовали в тестировании модификации злектронных свойств металла за счет адсорбции серы или высаждений кокса на метелле. На основе измерений селективности оказалось, что адсорбция серы на платине индуцирует уменьшение злектронной плотности металла. Высаждение кокса приводит к противоположному эффекту.
