Abstract
The optical characteristics of nonlinear, resonant periodic structures are studied. The latter were modeled by a stratified-inhomogeneous medium. The calculations were based on modified (with allowance for the inhomogeneity of the medium) Maxwell-Bloch equations. The calculations showed that the geometrical construction of the periodic structure affects its integral optical characteristics if the parameter characterizing the nonlinear properties of the medium varies from layer to layer. Various causes of this dependence are analyzed.
