Conclusions

We have considered the prospects for investigating the inflation stage of evolution of the universe, when gauge and Higgs fields are considered to be the source of the gravitational field. We have suggested an effective description of the GUT using a chiral, nonlinear sigma model. We note the possibility of the appearance of an electromagnetic field within the framework of Newtonian cosmology.
