Role of olefins in the hydrogenolysis of butanes on a platinum catalyst

Abstract

The reaction of 2-methylpropane has been investigated in presence of helium and hydrogen over a platinum black catalyst. The appearence of olefins in the gas phase indicates that the precursor of these unsaturated compounds adsorb ed on the surface may have some role in the self-poisoning observed during hydrogenolysis and/or isomerization.

Abstract

Реакция 2-метилпропана была исследована в присутствии гелия и водорода на катализаторе платиновой черни. Появление олефинов в газовоь фазе указывает на то, что предшественник этих ненасыщенных соединений, адсорбированный на поверхности, может играть некоторую роль в само-отравлении в ходе гидрогенолиза и/или изомеризации.
