Interaction of HAuCl4 with aromatic compounds in protic media formation of σ-aryl complexes of gold

Abstract

Oxidation reactions of aromatic compounds (naphthalene, phenol, p-dimethoxybenzene) with Au(III) complexes in CF3COOH−H2) or CH3COOH yield chlorinated arenes and diaryls. The reaction mixture can also yield unstable complexes of gold whose NMR spectra indicate that they are σ-aryl derivatives of Au(III). Aryl derivatives of non-transition metals arylate olefins in the presence of HAuCl4.

Abstract

Окисление ароматических соединений (нафталина, фенола, п-диметоксибензола) комплексами золота (III) в CF3COOH−H2O или CH3COOH приводит к образованию хлорированных аренов и диарилов. Из реакционой смеси могут бытя также выделены неустойчивые комплексы, для которых на основании спектров ЯМР предложена структура σ-арильных производных. Арильные производные непереходных металлов арилируют олефины в присутствии HAuCl4.
