Abstract
Mössbauer studies have been carried out on Zr(Fe,Mn)2 and the corresponding hydrides. Hydrogen absorption is shown to lead to a substantial increase in magnetic ordering. Positive changes in isomer shift up to 0.53 mm/s have been observed which is explained in terms of a 4s carge transfer resulting in the formation of metal-hydrogen bands.
