Nature of the active centers of A Re2O7/Al2O3 catalyst in 1-butene disproportionation and isomerization

It is shown that the catalytic activity of Re2O7/Al2O3 in olefin disproportionation is related to the Re(VII) (d0) valence state in the form of surface mesoperrhenate. Reduction to Re(VI) (d1) and Re(IV) (d3) results in the loss of activity in olefin disproportionation and the appearance of activity regarding the isomerization of 1-butene to 2-butene.
