Conclusions

Refractory blocks of magnesite-chromite or magnesium silicate composition bonded with magnesium sulfate can be recommended for lining heat-treatment furnaces (soaking pits) operating at working temperatures of 1200°C. The concrete blocks have been in operation for 18 months.
