Ein Beitrag zur Kenntnis des Entstehungsmechanismus der Schädelbasisringbrüche

Summary

Three separate fatal traffic accidnets involving one pedestrian, one driver, and one passenger (of the right front seat of an automobile) are reported. Each of the victims suffered a ring fracture of the base of the skull. The mechanism of these fractures does not appear to be that which is usually described (severe impact on the base of the skull). Instead ring features of the base of the skull result from pressure upward with simultaneous pull downward of the head. Each of the victims reported in this study received their impact on the chin and face.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden drei Verkehrsunfälle, die zu Schädelbasisringbrüchen führten, besprochen. Der Entstehungsmechanismus dieser Brüche entspricht nicht dem klassisch beschriebenen energischen Stoß der Halswirbel in die Schädelbasis, vielmehr ist der Ringbruch das Resultat der Kraftwirkung des Druckes nach oben und des Zuges nach unten.
