Pichia Xylopsoci, a new yeast from South African insect sources

Abstract

Three strains of an undescribedPichia species were recovered from the tunnels excavated by the beetle,Xylopsocus capucinus, inFicus sycomorus andCeltis africana on the north coast of Natal.

A description of the new yeast species is given.

Drei Stämme einer nichtbeschriebenen Pichia Art wurden an der Nord Küste Natals aus den vom KäferXylopsocus capucinus in den BäumenFicus sycomorus undCeltis africana angelegten Gängen gewonnen.

Eine Beschreibung dieser neuen Hefenart wird gegeben.
