Summary
In the development of fruiting bodies of the commercial mush-room,Agaricus campestris, the rupture of the partial veil and exposure of the lamellae, which results in a large increase in surface area, is accompanied by no increase or at most a negligible increase in the respiratory production of carbon dioxide.
