Dekkera, a new genus of the Saccharomycetaceae

Abstract

The new genusDekkera is proposed for the classification of ascosporogenous yeast strains which have hitherto been classified as species of the genusBrettanomyces.

Two species are assigned to the new genus, vizD. bruxellensis andD. intermedia.

A description of the species and a key to the genus are given.
