Zusammenfassung
Unter besonderer Berücksichtigung vonAdoretus irakanus Ohs. als Schädling, werden Angaben über im Irak vorkommendeAdoretus-Arten gemacht. Vermutlich in der Folge menschlicher Umweltveranderungen, tratA. irakanus in den letzten Jahren stärker auf und verursachte als Blattfresser anPopulus- undPyrus-Arten beachtliche Schäden. Die Blattschädigung an Wirtschaftspappelarten ist im Hinblick auf drohenden Befall durchMelanophila picta Pall. von weiterreichender Bedeutung und stellt eine weitere Erschwerung des im nö rdlichen Flachland des Irak ohnehin problematischen Anbaus von Wirtschaftspappeln dar.

With special regard toAdoretus irakanus Ohs. as a pest, information on otherAdoretus-specie occurring in Iraq, is given. Presumably, as a consequence of man-made alternation of the natural environment.A. irakanus occurred in increasing numbers during recent years and caused noticeable leaf-injury to variousPopulus- andPyrus-species. Facing the threat of attack ofMelanophila picta Pall., the importance of defoliation of timber-producing poplars goes beyond its actual effect and contributes to the already present difficultis which make poplar cultivation problematic in the lowlands of Northern Iriq.
