Summary
The iodine content of the thyroid glands, ovaries, adrenal glands livers, spleens, and kidneys of 24 human corpses and several laboratory animals was determined by means of a sensitive photometric method.
It was found that except for the thyroid gland the ovaries as a rule had the greatest iodine content. But in some cases, when the subjects had suffered from infectious deseases, the adrenal glands contained more iodine than the other organs except the thyroid gland.
A special experiment showed that at least in the rat stimulation of the adrenal cortex was accompanied by an increase of the iodine content of this organ.
There was no correlation between the iodine content of the thyroid gland and that of the other organs.
