The EEG in progressive dialysis encephalopathy. The EEG and clinical indices of PDE in cases treated with desferrioxamine

Abstract

Two patients with progressive dialysis encephalopathy (PDE) were subjected to serial EEG recording and neuropsychological tests in order to assess the value of the investigations as indices of the course of PDE during desferrioxamine treatment. EEG proved unreliable for this purpose.

Due pazienti affetti da Encefalopatia Dialitica Progressiva nel decorso della loro malattia sono stati sottoposti a ripetuti esami EEG unitamente a test neuropsicologici, con lo scopo di valutare la validità di questi esami come parametri per monitorizzare l'evoluzione di questa encefalopatia in rapporto al trattamento con Desferrioxamina.
