Résumé
L'insuffisance cardiaque est fréquente en gérontologie. Elle est une complication presque inévitable de toute cardiopathie non immédiatement mortelle.
La prévention de l'insuffisance cardiaque est primaire lorsqu'elle vise à éviter l'apparition des maladies du cœur. Elle est secondaire quand elle cherche à empêcher ou à retarder l'insuffisance cardiaque d'une cardiopathie. Elle est tertiaire si elle s'efforce de prévenir une nouvelle poussée de décompensation chez les malades qui en ont déjà souffert.
