Left retroperitoneal approach to the aorta and its branches: Part I

Conclusion

The left retroperitoneal approach is a versatile surgical route that is useful in a variety of aortic, visceral, and renal reconstructions. At present one major drawback appears to be a lack of familiarity with the approach. This article should help explain this versatile approach.
