Summary
Problem of transmission of pressure due to surface waves, to the ocean bottom has been discussed. It has been shown that instability in storm troubled surface area really helps in producing microseisms, for then there is facility for pressure being transmitted to the bottom. Considering non-uniform rate of change of sound velocity inside the ocean, the condition derived for transmission of pressure to the bottom is that waves of at least 700 ft long wavelengths should be produced by the storm.
