Summary
It is well known that the dominant latent root of a square (real or complex) matrix may be calculated by iteration of the matrix on punched-card machines provided this root is single. The present paper treats the problem of the calculation of the derivatives of that root with respect to the elements of the matrix, It is shown that these derivatives may be calculated in short time without punching additional cards by simple permutation of the cards already used in the iteration process.
