Synopsis
The simple full-band shows great advantages compared to the screw-band. Good results are obtained more certainly by applying indirect band-making-methods than by direct ones. Plastic impression-materials of the stents-type give for band-making more suitable impressions and models than the more exact impression-materials as plaster and dentocoll; for by the former when taking out the impression we get the necessary sligth deformations, resp. traces of parts of the tooth underneath.
When making bands the reproduction of undercuts has no positive value, but is a hinderance when technically shaping the bands. The material used for models must be resistable, it should endure swaging and before completely setting, allow of its being cut by handinstruments. By systematical indirect technic the loss of time when taking impressions is equilibrated by saving the operator the effective time used for band making in direct technic.
