Blumer identisch.
Summary
Cineraria (Senecio cruentus DC.) is often severely attacked by a powdery mildew, and the disease may cause considerable losses. The parasite is limited to Cineraria and does not attack other hothouse-plants. Inoculation experiments on Begonia, Chrysanthemum, Kalanchoë, Cyclamen and Primula failed (see Table). Reversely mildews growing on these species were incapable of parasitizing Cineraria.Oidium cinerariae auct. develops a dense, white mat, covering the upper surface of leaves, petioles and stems (figs. 1 and 3). In this mycelium conidia are produced in great profusion. The perfect stage of the fungus, unknown up till ncw, was found on old, severely attacked leaves of a cineraria plant (fig. 2). The perithecium form is identical withSphaerotheca fusca (Fr.) Blumer found on wildSenecio andDoronicum species.
